San Jose, CA (August 24, 2006) – DRB was selected from several graphic design agencies to submit ideas for the 2007 cover of the annual Silicon Valley Creative Directory. The agency submitted three distinct ideas and the publisher responded: “You guys make it hard to choose...they’re all terrific!”
The cover finally selected was actually a fusion of art forms – graphics and sculpture -- which DRB Creative Director, Ken Camozzi, terms “tactile design.” He used multi-dimensional graphics that enhance the “printed texture” to match the physical texture of the sculpture while adding depth and warmth. The clay sculpture used in the cover was actually the creation of DRB Art Director, Fred Yokel, who has several of his “Jestures” sculptures currently on display in prestige galleries. According to DRB Founder and CEO, Ray Brown, “This was a great opportunity to explore new creative directions and look beyond traditional resource material. We plan to use this idea in other upcoming higher-end design projects, like Annual Reports, Progress Reports and Capabilities Brochures." |
